1. Walk and Talk!

To be more productive and refreshed.

Turn meetings into walking meetings. You sit all day, so why not make your meetings a walking meeting instead? Research has suggested that walking makes people more creative. Or, take a break and go for a walk during lunch with your peers. You’ll return to work feeling refreshed mentally and physically.

2. Sneaky Steps

Ditch the elevators and take the stairs!

Sneak-in extra steps when and wherever possible: Park your car in the furthest parking spot from the office, ditch the elevator and take the stairs, and stop by a colleague’s desk from time-to-time instead of sending one more email.

3. Snack Attack

Stay fuelled and foccussed with healthy snacks!

Set a “Healthy Snacks Only!” policy for all shared food items brought to the office. If you have an onsite cafeteria, work with your onsite foodservice provider to ensure healthy food choices are available. Consider subsidizing employees’ healthy food choices.

4. Release Some Tension

Stretch it out!

Stretch in your chair: point and flex your toes, do wrist circles, stretch your neck side to side, roll your shoulders forwards and backwards. Just a minute or two can help you reconnect with the way your body is feeling and release some tension.

5. Take Mini-Breaks

Stand, relax, and stretch!

Use your calendar to help you stay balanced, and schedule a few mini breaks each day. Take just a few minutes out to stand up, stretch your legs, get a glass of water, take a few deep breaths and get out of your chair! Do a set of stairs while you’re up or walk over to visit a colleague across the office.

6. Play Day

Get Active!

Have some fun and play sports with your colleagues: organize an interdepartmental tournament with a neighbouring company or organize a team to play in a recreational sports league, eg. volleyball, baseball, football.

7. Sweat for a Cause

Support Local Charities!

Support an entry in a corporate team event or fundraiser such as bicycle relay, a 5k run or walk. STI-TEC currently supports a multi-sport athletic team that raises funds for Special Olympics Oklahoma! Sign up to volunteer for a Sunday ride! You’ll feel proud to support a good cause!

8. Pro H20

Drink Up!

Stay hydrated throughout the day! Drinking water not only keeps you hydrated, it boosts energy, cures aches & pains, promotes kindey health, better digestion, and healthy skin. Carry a reusable water bottle with you as an easy reminder to stay hydrated!
