We are thrilled to announce that Macy Hudson, daughter of our colleague Tonita Hudson, has been crowned Miss Ohio USA 2024! Macy’s journey to this prestigious title is a testament to her resilience, passion, and dedication to making a difference.
Macy’s path to the crown began in her hometown of Dayton, Ohio, where she grew up surrounded by the love and support of her family, including her late sister, Moriah Hudson Burrage. Moriah, a beloved early childhood educator, wife, and mother, tragically passed away in November 2021 due to a rare blood disorder. This loss deeply impacted Macy, inspiring her to honor her sister’s memory in a profound way.
After graduating from Kent State University, Macy began working as an account executive for a major fashion designer in New York. Just days after beginning her career, she received the heartbreaking news of her sister’s passing. In the midst of her grief, Macy found a calling to raise awareness about rare blood disorders and promote the importance of blood donation. This led her to establish “5:18 4LIFE,” a non-profit organization dedicated to these causes.
Despite the challenges she faced, Macy continued to pursue her academic goals and is currently completing her MBA at Ohio State University. Through her studies and her work with 5:18 4LIFE, Macy has remained steadfast in her commitment to making a meaningful impact on her community and beyond.
Now, as Miss Ohio USA, Macy plans to use her platform to amplify her advocacy efforts. She will represent Ohio in the upcoming Miss USA competition on August 4, 2024, in Hollywood, CA, where she hopes to bring greater attention to the issues close to her heart.
